What tattoo would be a good way to represent my love for writing, and music?

I cant figure out what would be a good tattoo to get to represent my love for writing and music. If not both, just writing. I can do a different one for music. I want something to do with a pencil or something, but I simply just can’t figure it out. Please help me! Thanks!
I just realized that wasn’t too spacific, i want both of them worked into 1 tattoo..

it would be easy to have a small open book . placed into a treble cleft. another idea which would work. the order of the Eastern star. close to your requirements. possibly write your own ideas down. do not draw. then the artists can take your writing , between the 2 of you perfect. will be very Original. good artist . better than great.
A NOTE FOR MUSIC
i have no idea how old you are, but i would lke to suggest to double thing any kind of a tattoo, as i know many people who have them and at some time they live to regreat them. do you want to carry a picture around on your body the rest of your life? think of an old pair of shoes and they just go on your feet. i’m sure you can "write" something on your body that when you get tired of it, you can "ereasssssssse" it. good luck
um, id say have separate ones cuz it could end up looking like crap.
Ask your local tattooist for ideas, he/she might even be able to draw you one up
A music note with a pen next to it with some nice paper.
How about a stave with notes on them, the last note of which is half drawn and has a pencil over it suggesting you’re drawing the notes.
Alternatively if you didn’t like the sound of that (because I guess the pencil isn’t technically writing) you could go for the same idea but have the pencil writing a quote in handwriting on your body – the quote could even be a favourite lyric or music related quote to kill two birds with one stone!
I side with Kara on seeking the advice of your local artist but it sounds like a really cool idea. You could do an old-school (manual) typewriter with paper coming out the back that fades into a musical bar with notes on it. Something swirly as it waves around and eventually fades away. That’s if you are set on combining the two. If not, you could separate the ideas into two very special and meaningful pieces. It’s tough to give advice without knowing if you have other ink already, what you like (old school, new/old school, biomech, etc).

What about something, like a make it look as if a pen is writing music notes. I am visioning it but can not really describe it.

do you have any favourite lyrics or quote or poem? writing a small phrase that has meaning in courier font looks pretty good on many people
get pencils shaped like a musical note
What do you think about a scroll sideways with a music note in the middle of it?
Rather than a pencil I think something with a Quill would look pretty cool, maybe a inkwell of some kind. Or a Quill with a piece of parchment and small writing started on it.
