Tattooists work is evil & corrupt. So you need to become that. That`s all.

You can always draw and sell FLASH, which is the tattooable artwork that a lot of shops have. Check out sites like tattoojohnny.com or companies like liquid skin, all that artwork is flash and some people make a nice living just selling that online, or to shops and at conventions. I would advise against actually getting into tattooing right now. With all the success of shows like Miami Ink there is an overload of people trying to become tattoo artists. So finding a reputable artist to apprentice you will be hard.

In this business, you better be prepared to work your butt off,
especially if they do walk-ins.
I do appointments only, that way I can kind of choose the pace.
You'll learn a lot ....if you're any kind of artist though, pressure is not one of our best qualities............lol
If they are your ideas, you should get paid more....original art with your modifications....you should get paid more. If you have to expedite anything, you should get paid more.
This should be known and passed on to the customer.
.........there is no way that you can put up a sign with prices
on the work you do..........it will all be different.........the more detail.....the size, all of that should go into effect.
I wouldn't let your flash at any shop without you being there.
.......if you know what I mean.
I've heard of so called friends really screwin over others by stealing the work.........making copies and selling them someplace else.

good luck with your choice
hope I could help a little

what youll need is an apprenticeship which may be what your getting a tattoo artist is the one who does the tattoo and an apprentice usually runns around doing grunt work like drawing and cleaning the shop sterilizeing the equip. and apprentices generally dont get paid either so theres something to keep in mind on top of that youll usually have to pay to learn the trade. my husband is a tattoo artist and some ppl want a tattoo right now today so you have to draw it up immediately and some ppl will come in drop off a design and give you a few days. you have to be very talented artistically to do this job. You also need a high level of stupid ppl tolerance, ability to work long hours (usually) and a bunch of persistance! most ppl who draw tattoos also do them so if you want to get into this field of work you need to be prepared to get really really into it. a little more detail may help get a better ansewer but i can see your new to this. just remember to respect the tattoo artists youll work with and respect the tradition of tattooing and youll be fine
