The lining of the tatt will hurt the most. Depending on how big or intricate your design this bit shouldn’t last too long. But on the shoulder – it will hurt. But it’s bearable. Best thing is to just bite your arm and distract yourself.
Once that’s over, the colouring bit will feel like heaven compared with the first stage. It’s not painful but more irritating and after doing the lining it won’t feel bad at all.
When that’s done they cover your tatt up with plastic wrap or a bandage. You’ll feel a certain buzz after you get it done – like a small andrenaline rush. Especially since it’s your 1st one.
When you get home you’ll feel like you’ve been punched hard. The area will be a bit sore and you’ll feel stiff – like you just don’t want to move the area. But it’s not bad.
Now the healing begins and that’s the fun part…..groan.
But good luck with it. Trust me – you can be as scared and worried as you want – because it’s NEVER as bad as you expect. Have fun
You should expect there to be some pain depending on where it is. And you should expect it to last forever.
And that some tattoo artist aren’t as mean as they apeear to be.
It feels like little pricks of needles, if you ever had a small sowing needle prick you, you know what it feels like. If it’s on a bone it hurts a lot worse. Just depends on how well you take pain. It’s more irritating than painful.
It’s not a big deal. The hardest part is the anticipation of it happening. It just a slight burning feeling. But also, it depends on where you’re having it done. Anything on bone or very soft pliable skin hurts a little more–but still, not a huge deal if you want one. I love mine!
All I can say is that it hurts. They trace it with a needle and that it will last your entire life. Even when you grow elderly. So it might not look good when you are old.
Here is the history of tattoos if you are interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tattoo
the pain of a tat is as follows: the lining feels like when you get beaten by a mostiqo and you start to scracth the pain away. same feeling on a tat lining.
the middle part or the coloring part, at least to me does not feel that bad. it is a sensation of the same area being work on over and over again.
the only parts where at least for me have borthers more than other parts is when the bones is closer than muscle. there i have been known to scream bad words in three different languages.
actually for me the pain of a tat is felt more when the heeling part begins. the itching, burning sensation is more borthersome to me. my skin heels fast, thank god. so with just a & d ointment as often as i need it, and just staying away from pool or sea water, not letting sun get on it, and cleaning it the right way, soon you will be enjoying your new tat.
but remember at least for me they became very addictive.
First the artist will confirm you design with you, once you know it is what you want and the size he will most likely make a transfer of it. He will clean the area with alchohal and place the transfer on your skin…remove the transfer and ask you to confirm the location….BE HONEST, if you don’t like where it is have him remove it and replace it.
Once that is done he will begin with the outline. Needle sounds like your at the dentist and feels a lot like severe scratching (best way I can describe it). The outline was the most painful part for me. When the outline is complete he will begin to fill it in with the colors you’ve chosen, by this point (depending on tattoo size) you should be pretty numb and it proabably won’t hurt as much as the outline. A splash of cool water and a rub will a clothe to remove excess ink and your set.
They should give you care instructions for after you go home…remeber, don’t pick at that scab!
