I’ve heard that tattoo apprentices will do your tattoos for cheap/nothing because they need the experience. I’m broke, so I want an apprentice to cover up my small tattoo with a simple one. The only thing is, how do I call and ask for it?! What do I say?

Tattoo…?

Why are you looking for questions about tattoos if you don’t like them? If someone’s asking a legitimate question about getting a tattoo they don’t want to hear your BS propoganda. Get over the fact that people are different from you and have different beliefs and interests. If you don’t like tattoos don’t get one and leave the rest of us alone!

I know everyone has a different tolerance of pain, and all tattoos hurt, but on a scale of 1-10 (one being no pain, ten being unbearable) how bad does a tattoo on the back of the neck hurt?

Forget the damn butterflies, the black (terribly drawn) panther on the calve or the double hearts on the upper arm. I’ve seen plenty of tacky tattoos, but the tackiest of all was a woman with a Tweety tattoo (not kidding!) Can you top this one?

I draw well, and my friend recommended me to a tattoo shop where they are looking for a tattoo artist (I hope I’m using the correct term- I mean the person who designs the tattoos and draws them, not the one who actually tattoos you).
What are this job’s requirements, artistically and practically? Do you need to improvise on the spot, or can you design it over a period of time?

I want to get "robur et veneratio" tattooed on me and i like the idea of it going down the middle of my back and i was just wondering if it would feel more painful along my spine. I have alot of friends with tattoos and they said that it didn’t really hurt getting there tattoo until the needle ran over a part of there body such as their shin or the outside of their forearm where there is no muscle or fat between the skin and the bone. Just wondering. Thanks.

I really want to get a tattoo to represent recently becoming a mother. I want something totally unique, but that will still reflect my new role as mama. I’m not into stuff like rainbows, hearts and I’d rather it not have any words too. I have a few ideas already but I want to see what ideas anyone else might have. I have several tattoos already so I’m not one to shy away from larger pieces – any suggestions?

I have an idea of a tattoo I want and it will be one that will be added to over time, is this a reasonable idea? I don’t want it to look like multiple tattoos, rather to always look like one tattoo.
The one I have in mind is of a rose vine traveling up and around my leg and around my body till it ends over my heart. Only the last rose will be in full bloom. When you say touch up what do you mean?

What is the best advice that you can give to help me pick a unique and meaningful tattoo for my boys? I will probably design it myself and have someone draw it, but I just can’t think of the best way to represent them without having a tattoo that everybody else has. Thanks!

If I wanted your opinion about tattoos I would have asked. I am looking for websites with graphics, locations and styles. Please don’t use this to judge and stereotype me. Celebrity Tattoos – Janet Jackson

Her first name isn’t baby, it’s Janet, Ms. Jackson if you are nasty. It seems that Ms. Jackson lives up to the nasty name of hers because Janet has a very interesting nasty tattoo of her own. She also has a small collection of other tattoos. Just like so many other celebrities Janet’s tattoos are not very flashy and barely noticeable.

Here’s a list of Janet’s four tattoos.

1. She has a Borneo-style scorpion design on the small of her back.

Tattoo of Janet Jackson

2. A Japanese kanji on the back of her neck is sometimes described as symbolizing balance and continuity and sometimes as friendship. Janet shared this kanji tattoo with two of her best friends who work with her as dancers.

3. She has a "Sankofa" on the inside of her right wrist. It’s a symbol taken from King Adinkera of the Akan people from West Africa. It means "it is not taboo to go back and fetch what you forgot."

4. Janet’s last tattoo (nasty) tattoo is on the crease of her right thigh. It is Mickey and Minnie Mouse doing something very naughty. Minnie is giving oral to Mickey.

Many people raise their eyebrows at Janet’s rather nasty and maybe inappropriate tattoo. But Janet doesn’t really see it that way. Janet has admitted to having done a lot of sexual experimentation in her 20s and 30s, and the rather nasty and unusual tattoo of the Disney characters "doing the nasty" as she phrases it, Janet views this tattoo has rather humorous to her as well as being symbolic that she feels sex is good and should be fun.

Celebrity Tattoos – Jessica Alba

I will admit I really don’t recall every seeing Jessica Alba’s tattoos before and come to find out she has at least three that I could find. She has a wrist tattoo that is in the Sanskrit word "Padma" which means lotus flower. In Hinduism, it is the symbol of spiritual development. It is the symbol of the manifestation of beauty and mental purity (the ability to rise above) – for although it has its roots in the mud of ponds and lakes, it raises its flower in immaculate beauty above the surface of the water. She also has a tattoo of a daisy with a ladybug on it on the back of her neck and a bow on her lower back. I could not find a suitable picture of her neck tattoo, so you will just have to take my word that she does indeed have one back there.

Tattoo of Jessica Alba

I do find this rather interesting that Jessica could have these tattoos in these fairly noticeable places and practically get away without hardly any people noticing that she even has three tattoos. Which I think is genius. So if you are wanting to get a tattoo and don’t want to it be too noticeable then maybe you should follow Jessica Alba’s footsteps and get your tattoos in the places that she has them.

Jessica did open up about her latest tattoo which is of a ladybug and daisy on her neck. She said that her mom, aunt and her all went out and got tattoos one day as a "bonding experience." And all three of them got different ladybug tattoos.

Tattoos On Robbie Williams

British singer Robbie Williams has at least 14 tattoos on his body. The count varies according to how you group the tattoos together. Aside from music, body ink has really been one of his passions. He’s got tattoos of different sorts and designs almost covering his whole body.

On his right upper thigh is a Pagan Celtic Cross which was done while he was still part of the pop group Take That. As he described in one of his interviews, he’s got the devil inside him and that cross tattoo is meant to protect him from such inner demons.
Robbie Williams Tattoos

Located on his left shoulder is a big Maori tribal design in a partial sleeve from his shoulder to halfway down his biceps. The design is exquisitely detailed with rounded waves as signs of the twists and turns in life. One of the sources says that the Maori tribal tattoo was done by a famous Dutch tattoo artist, Henk Schiffmacher, while another source says that it was done by Te Ranginu Netana in New Zealand. The Maori tattoo is thought to represent Williams’ life.

Williams’ right arm is designed with a face of a lion with inscriptions above and below it. The tattoo is a representation of a young male lion, the universally accepted sign of power, with detailed features. "Elvis, grant me serenity", are the words inscribed above it, while "Born to be mild", are found underneath. Just like the cross, the lion tattoo is also for protection.

Another tattoo found in Robbie Williams’ body is the Eye of Horus, the ancient Egyptian falcon god, also called the "all-seeing eye". Williams had this tattoo done at the back of his neck in 2004 as a shield from evil spirits and for good luck.
Tattoos on Robbie Williams
Also believed for protection is what Robbie calls the "Christian." It was done in New Zealand in July 2000. The "Christian" is a depiction of the crucifixion – Jesus Christ on the cross with Mary and some angels.

In May 2003, Robbie had a pair of swallows tattooed on his abdomen. These tattoos are a symbol for freedom and loyalty and probably an expression of Williams’ love for these abstract concepts.

Under his left arm, Robbie Williams has a Crest tattoo, a tattoo of the coat of arms of the town of Burslem. Burslem is known as the Mother Town, and one of the six towns that form the current city of Stroke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, in the Midlands of England. It is the place where Robbie and his family moved to after he was born.
Robbie Williams Tattoos on Back
On Robbie’s lower back is the musical score for the chorus of the well-known Beatles classic, "All You Need Is Love."

Aside from the above-mentioned pictorial tattoos, Robbie also has word tattoos all over his body.

Tattoos On Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp got his first tattoo at the age of seventeen. Each tattoo marks a major thing in his life, a person, an event, or an idea. As Johnny explained, his body tells a story in a way.

As of last count, Johnny has 12 known markings on his body. He maybe has more but only these twelve are the ones recorded. Johnny Depp tattoo

Listed below are his tattoos in no special order:

A swallow over a sunset with Jack tattooed underneath. While he was filming one of his most celebrated movies, Pirates of the Caribbean, he had to wear a fake version of these tattoos. He liked it so much that he had them permanently inked on his right forearm. Contrary to what people may have assumed, Jack is in honor of his son, and not his character Jack Sparrow. He also had the swallow tattoo inverted so that it is flying towards him. As he mentioned in one of his interviews in 2004, he always wants his son to come back to him.

The inscription Lily Rose. Found over Johnnys heart, the script honors his daughter Lily Rose.

Tattoo of Johnny DeppHeart and Betty Sue. Johnny had his mothers name engraved on a heart and tattooed on his left bicep on May 31, 1988 in honor of the first woman in his life.

Wino Forever. Found on his right bicep, it originally read, Winona Forever in honor of his then girlfriend, Winona Ryder. After their breakup, Johnny had it laser-removed.

Native American Head. Just below the Wino Forever tattoo is a Cherokee Indian Chief in full headdress. Johnny had this tattoo to symbolize his ancestral cultural heritage.

The Brave symbol. This tattoo found inside his right arm is from one of his movies, The Brave.

Inverted Triangle. Above his mothers name tattoo is an inverted triangle which also symbolizes the heart. It is also a universal sign of the feminine and is often used to express romantic love.

Three Rectangles. Found on his right index finger, Johnny describes them as a permanent phone doodle. In many of his movies, Johnny wears a large ring to cover this tattoo.

Number Three. On Johnnys left hand, between his thumb and index finger, is the number three tattoo. In April 1996, he made a statement about the number three in the Young Flix Magazine. He described the number three as special, creative, mystical, and magical. However, in another interview, he said that he and a friend had that tattoo one day while they were bored.

Summary of Johnny Depp Tattoos
Crossbones and Skull with the inscription Death is Certain. Johnny claims to be the only one who knows exactly what that phrase means.

Question Mark (?). On the right inside leg, over Johnnys ankle is a question mark tattoo.

Silence Exile Cunning. This latest tattoo found on Johnnys arm is a quote from James Joyces book A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. It was first seen on June 2, 2008 at the MTV movie awards.

Tattoos are becoming more popular within the female culture.

Here are some popular designs you might consider.

Until recently, tattooed women were heavily stereotyped and there was also a bit of social stigma attached to them. It was left unsaid but commonly understood that only criminals, prostitutes, or homosexual women got tattoos. That image is now changing fast with tattooed women being accepted as part of mainstream culture. Women have always been more style and fashion conscious than man and it is only natural that even in the field of tattoos they are very particular about the design and the body part where the tattoo will be displayed. Men tend to be quick and bold about their tattoo choice but women like to take time and ponder carefully before making a decision. The balance is shifting rapidly with more and more tattoo artists claiming that a majority of their clientele now comprises of women.

female tattoos

The same tattoo artists are also saying that women are better equipped for the process of tattooing and they handle the pain much better than men. Men approach the tattooing process with the belief that they are tough enough to handle the pain but quite a few of them pass out when the needle begins to do its work. Women tend to anticipate the pain much better and this apparently increases their tolerance towards it. Feminine tattoo designs tend to be less aggressive and go for the delicate look saying it with flowers, butterflies, angels, and so on. Their preferred tattoo areas are the lower back and tail end. Women also tend to mix western and eastern tattoo designs much better than men. The ever increasing demand for newer tattoo designs by women has also lead to a sort of revolution for the tattoo artists as they are now looking across cultures to find the right look that women are demanding year after year.

  female tattoo complete artwork

Even today the most preferred form of tattoo is to engrave the benefactor’s or sweetheart’s name on the body. Sometimes tattoos are also used to cover up scars and other permanent blemishes. The most commonly used tattoos besides the above include angels, butterflies, Celtic, cross, dragons, fairies, flowers, henna, lower back, and tribal tattoos. There is a large number of Christian symbols that are also being used as tattoo images though nothing comes close to the popularity of the cross. Other popular designs include zodiac symbols and other celestial bodies such as the sun or the moon. Then there are symbols of good look from many cultures across the world that are also quite popular. The Hibiscus flower is perhaps the most commonly used in flower based designs for tattoos.

female butterfly tattoo

Whereas women always went in for delicate and minimalist tattoos they are slowly beginning to choose larger and aggressive tattoo designs. Popular female tattoos are getting more and more experimental every day with women going in for all sorts of combinations that were previously considered a serious no-no. Female tattoos also tend to be on the sexier side and are placed on the body in order to accentuate the feminine charms.
