I got my tattoo 9 days ago with my friends and my tattoo artist told me to put A & D ointment on it for 2 weeks. My tattoo is flaking off the ink and looks like its fading. The tattoo is all black and looks faded in the spots where it was flaking off. This is my first tattoo and i hate for it to be ruined. What should I do?

I am planning on getting a tattoo of my grandfathers signature over my heart, not really big, maybe 1x6in or there abouts. But when I have him write it out for me, how large should he do it so the tattoo artist will be able to make an exact copy. Hopefully that makes sense. Thanks!

I recently got a tattoo of the Puerto Rico Flag, but the tattoo artist messed up the stripes cause she wanted to "Add more detail"… B.S. The PR Flag has 3 Red and 2 White stripes.(Red, White, Red, White, Red) She did 3 Red and 4 White (White, Red, White, Red, White, Red, White) and didn’t even place the stripes in the correct order. Not To mention that she is taking up 5 sessions already for a small tattoo that is taking up not even half of my upper arm, I paid almost 0 already for this tattoo and it is not worth it!!! This is the URL of the pic I gave her, just use some imagination on the stripe screw ups. http://www.therican.com/Images/Latino_Graphics/Boricua/images/coqui.gif
I called her and told her she screwed up, she said the next session is free and she’ll try to fix it… How? Should I go to another Artist to see if they can fix it or what? Should I try and get my money back? Is there any possible way to fix the screwed up stripes?

I really want a star and heart with a zebra print in one and a leopard print in the other but I am having a hard time finding and actual stencil or something similar to take to my tattoo artist. I keep finding actual pictures of people’s tattoos but not a stencil or regular picture that could be used for tattoos.

I have 3 tattoos, and everytime I get one, the tattoo artist tells me to put something different on it, my uncle does tattoos in California, and I always saw him putting Vaseline on them. But places I have went to say not to. I am about to get another tattoo and want to know what I should put on it to keep the coor from fading out and keep it from itching.

I draw well, and my friend recommended me to a tattoo shop where they are looking for a tattoo artist (I hope I’m using the correct term- I mean the person who designs the tattoos and draws them, not the one who actually tattoos you).
What are this job’s requirements, artistically and practically? Do you need to improvise on the spot, or can you design it over a period of time?

I have a great idea for a tattoo that i really want to get, but the only problem is i CAN’T draw. So my question is is there any websites that i can find a tattoo artist to design a tattoo just for me online without going to a tattoo pallor? The reason why i don’t want to go to a tattoo pallor is because i would like to walk in with the picture of i want on my body. Thank you all in advance.

I have been through all my ideas of every aspect I would like to take part in in my life. I have always been fascinated with tattoos and piercings. How would I go about being a tattoo artist/piercer? (What would you call one who pierces? =P)
Does it include college? Classes? What must I do?

After giving it much thought I have decided that I want a very detailed tattoo on my arm. However I do not have any experience with tattoos and do not know if any able tattoo artist would be suitable for this or if I have to search for a specific artist.
If you put "quasi-crystal pattern" into google images you can get an idea of the sort of pattern I want.
Is this too unrealistic?
I would also appreciate if anyone could recommend a good tattoo artist in England.
I would be prepared to pay the money a good tattoo takes and also to travel over a distance to find a good artist.
Here’s a link to a more specific picture of what I would like:

I’m a geek. I want a tattoo of a Final Fantasy summer, either Diablos (FF8) or Bahamut (take your pick). Obviously, in-game graphics is not what I want my tattoo to look like. How does this work? Do I bring the tattoo artist a few different pictures of the one I choose, and tell them what aspects are important to me, and such?
To Final Fantasy fans: which summon? I’ve added some links as to pictures I -would- bring in, if that is the appropriate thing to do.

I’m a tattoo artist and i’ve used a few types of cameras already and i’m not satisfied with the picture quality of them. All the pictures i take are very up close i’d say about 2" to 24" depending on where the tattoo is placed and what the tattoo is. So if anybody could help me out with this it would be great.

I think being a tattoo artist would be a fun job. Do they make good pay? I’m not looking to rake in thousands of dollars but just enough to pay for normal living expenses such as an apartment, groceries, ect. How do I go about becoming a tattoo artist? And does anyone have any tips?

I’ve been wanting to get a tattoo for a long time. I never knew exactly what I wanted. One month, I would find one/think of one I would really like, and the next month it wasn’t as interesting. I finally know I want a tattoo that is Bob Marley related. A photo of him and I guess a few other things to personalize it.
My concern is finding a tattoo artist in Northern Indiana that I have confindence in to actually draw Bob Marley on my arm with out making it look all jacked up.
I like:
http://tattoo.about.com/library/graphics/smbobmarley.jpg
This is alright too:
http://www.zhippo.com/StudioOneTattooHOSTED/images/gallery/bob_marley_tattoo.jpg
Looks like the tattoo artist was drunk:
http://www.tattooartists.org/Images/ThumbNails/000041000/Thm41760_marleymoose2.jpg
I guess my question is how much more difficult is it for a tattoo artist to do a portrait as compare to lets say a tribal design? Should I not settle for just any tattoo artist with business? Price Estimate?

I want to get a tattoo on the side of my foot, but my feet sweat really bad when I’m nervous. I’ve tried to draw it in pen to see if i like it, but i can only ever do it when my feet are really dry. Would the tattoo artist have a hard time stenciling the tattoo on me?

I’m looking for a tattoo artist who is willing to take on an apprentice. What will they be looking for in an apprentice? I am a skilled artist, with one tattoo of my own. How much would they charge me to learn the trade? What’s the average?

I know that I already posted this question, but I didn’t realize that once you pick a best answer, it closes it to get answers…I wanted to see whatelse I could find out
I know how you have to go about becoming a tattoo artist, but my problem is that I have to be able to survive on my own in the process. I really, really want to become a tattoo artist and I think that I have the talent to do it! I love everything about the industry, I have tattoos and piercings, I have get along well with people already in the industry… Mainly, I am afraid that if I become an apprentice, I will have to leave my full time job, with great benefits, and get a really, really bad paying part time job and not be able to pay my bills. Does anyone have some answers or words of advice that would help me in my quest?

One of my friends wants to be a tattoo artist and she knew I wanted a tattoo and offered to give me one for free. My parents are okay with it, their only rule was they wouldn’t sign for anything and if I can find a legal way around the paperwork they don’t care what I do with my body. So would it be legal for her to give me a tattoo? I would love to help her out and I would enjoy a tattoo but I don’t want to cause any potential trouble.

I generally have wanted to do game graphics and programming. However a recent thought has struck me. I seen one girl in college that wanted to be a tattoo artist and recently the idea struck me that it might be a neat thing to do. I just want to know what I have to put into it and what I could get out of it.
