Butterfly tattoo designs are designs that have for generations been loved. People have always been fascinated by butterflies: from young children to adults, the butterfly is a symbol of beauty and freedom that is second to none. There are also a large number of references to butterflies in history, and they are the subject of a variety of mixed legends, myths and other such tales. Thus, given their special meaning in almost every culture, it is not strange at all that butterfly tattoo designs are so desired by people.

When people mention butterflies, the first thing that comes to mind is how gentle the creatures are. They also have other attributes, namely their beauty, the mystery associated with them, their symbolism of transformation and their representation of freedom.
1. Beauty: This attribute of the butterfly is one that can hardly be argued about. In a large selection of sizes and shapes, butterflies are quite different even within a single species. Thus, almost every butterfly is unique. It is this beauty and more importantly uniqueness that cause butterfly tattoo designs to be so popular with women. butterly tattoo on back
2. Mystery: There is a large amount of mystery that is associated with the metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly. This sense of mystery has prevailed throughout the ages so that even today people are captivated by the occurrence. This sense of mystery has also in a way contributed to their popularity as tattoo designs, since many people feel that it represents the mystery within them.
3. Transformation: The metamorphosis of the butterfly also represents transformation from caterpillar to butterfly, which could also be interpreted as a person becoming more beautiful. This has also led to such designs becoming popular among girls who undergo a similar transformation into women.
4. Freedom: This attribute barely needs to be discussed. Butterflies have always been associated with freedom. Flying about flowers with apparently no cares in the world, these creatures have often been extremely envied by men and women alike. Women might find this significance a little more important for them, because of their lack of freedom in history. butterfly tattoo on shoulder

Such designs are also extremely safe, especially is a person is getting their first tattoo ever. The reason for this, more than the designs, is that the symbolism of a butterfly is one that can be treasured forever and will not change with time. It is unlikely that people would not at any point in their lives relate to joy, love and more importantly freedom. Apart from these, such designs are also advised as they are naturally beautiful and can be done with exquisite colouring.
If a person wishes to design his or her own tattoo, then inspirations can be got from one of many online tattoo galleries. Such galleries have huge ranges of designs, ranging from Celtic butterflies to Tribal butterflies, among others.
Such butterfly tattoo designs can thus exist in a variety of shapes, as well as colours and sizes. The best online galleries have expert tattoo artists who will be able to tattoo such designs on any part of one’s body. The most popular areas for butterfly tattoo designs have been found to be the lower back, arm, shoulder and ankle.
Thus with a renewed understanding of the symbolism of the butterfly, a person might wish that they could themselves become butterflies! Sadly, this is not possible, but the next best thing is: a person could advertise their spirit of mystery, beauty, freedom and transformation by getting one of the large number of available butterfly tattoo designs.

Tattoos were often considered to be the stuff of macho bikers that wanted to show that they can stand all that pain. Today tattoos have become part of mainstream culture and are being used by people who wish to show their appreciation for art and beauty. During the early days of this change the art of tattooing was more or less confined to men. It is only in recent that more and more women are going in for tattoos. This is because of a vast change in social perception where women tattoos are no longer frowned upon. There are several celebrities that have got tattoos and this has increased popular appeal for this form of art and also increased the social acceptance of tattoos on women. Because of this there are now new designs that specially appeal to feminine tastes.

Feminine tattoos are generally smaller and far prettier than those for men. Whereas male tattoos often include animals, logos, and other intimidating symbols tattoos for women feature flowers, butterflies, fairies, and similar concepts that represent delicacy and beauty. Tattoos for women feature thinner lines with more delicate coloring. They are not as aggressive in appearance as male tattoos. However, even this trend is undergoing a change because the increasing popularity of female tattoos has resulted in some women going in for heavy tattoos of the sort preferred by men.

Tattoo artists are now reporting that their largest clientele is made of women. They also state that women are better than men when it comes to the application of tattoos. For women, the design of tattoos is as important as the placement. Women spend far too much time comparing and selecting designs based on the body part where they intend to apply it. Though women are increasingly going in for heavier design elements their focus still remains on the sophisticated and the beautiful.

Two areas are generally preferred by women and these are the lower back and the tail bone areas. The lower back area is quite tantalizing and a sensitive spot for a woman to have a tattoo on. It is visible only in glimpses and like all things that are doled out in rare flashes this increases its appeal. Most of the designs for the lower back area tend to follow a V shape in order to accentuate the figure of the female form. Some of the most commonly used designs for this area include butterflies, angels, lions, hearts, insect wings, serpents, and several sorts of flowers. Nearly all designs are elaborated with wings or tendrils for a more balanced look. The lotus flower is supposed to represent the past, present, and the future. Flowers and animals are representative of femininity and fertility. Serpents and dragons are hints of trouble. The eagle represents courage and determination.

Another preferred area is the foot or ankle. These tattoos represent purity and simplicity. Professional and career minded women usually prefer foot or ankle tattoos because they are highly personal and not overbearing in any way.

When getting a new tattoo you obviously want the best tattoo graphics, right? Well, many people make the same mistake! Rushing down to the tattoo parlor and picking any old design. I will explain the best methods to get the tattoo graphics you’ll love!

tattoo graphics, graphic sample
Finding tattoo graphics is easy, finding tattoo graphics that are stunning is something else. Hundreds of people who make tattoo art for a hobby have set up shop on the world wide web. If you have already decided on a tattoo style you like, such as a butterfly tattoo or tribal tattoo you can start searching for these terms in the search engines, remember to use quotes to make your searches more accurate.

Never rule out tattoo parlor designs, they may be overused but they are useful for inspiration or using as an outline to build your own designs. Beware of low par tattoo sites, many have mediocre designs. The better ones will have you paying out at least 15 dollars per design. Pretty steep, your better off joining a tattoo gallery. Tattoo galleries allow you to browse thousands of professional tattoo graphics, giving the ability to enlarge and print ready for your tattoo artist.

If the worst comes to the worst and you can’t find your dream tattoo graphic, I’m sure they will give you a refund. Whatever method you use to find your perfect tattoo graphics, remember to always take your time and decide if that tattoo is really the one for you!
