I’m 16, how can I convince my dad to let me get a tattoo?

I was thinking either something like this

or a cross on my wrist.

Why would you want to? Tattoos are hideous!
You don’t. You have to wait until you’re 18.
Ugh, do NOT get a tramp stamp! That’s trashy, and also so five years ago.
In two years, you’ll be able to get it on your own, it sounds like, so just wait. You’ll want to – otherwise, the design might stretch out as you grow and it’ll soon resemble nothing at all.
I promise you that you will regret the tramp stamp idea if you get one now..
You are too young to make such an important long lasting decision. You probably don’t want to hear that, but it’s the truth! Wait and put more thought into it, or REGRET IT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.
i agree dont get a tramp stamp. if your going to permanently tattoo yourself, make it something meaningfull, something important to you.
don’t get one now …wait till your older..
depends on how strick your parents
a few years back my mom offered to get me a tatoo for my 14 birthday
so it really depends on the parent
its either 18 or 21 to get a tattoo on your own so you have a few years unless your getting a homemade one like a prison tattoo
just prove to him that youre mature enough to get one done
maybe even make a deal with him. like if you get an A on a test or something.
sounds cheeesy lol but it just might work.
ya never know
i’d say 16 is a good age.
to be honest you probably cant.
so i suggest gettign it somewhere he cant see.
for example on yur back or like hip or something.
gross, why would u want to get a tattoo!!!?? They may look good for a little while, but could u really imagine having a tattoo when you’re a grandma? What’s the use of having a tatto anyway… to get attention from a guy? Besides, if the tattoo’s on oyur lower back you wont even be able to see it, so it’s pretty much pointless…. don’t waste your money on them and they hurt a LOT when u get them!
you don’t want one, hun. don’t get a tramp stamp ! it’s permanent, remember ?
Really tough as parents do not want their children marked for life with something that will lose vogue in a couple of years
if hes a real man u wont be able to convince him
hopefully, you don’t convince him. i know you think it is cool and all, but someday when you are older you might regret having done this. it is a trashy look. it advertises trashiness. i know there are many out there that will say this is a narrow minded viewpoint, but quite honestly, it is a viewpoint that is shared by many. tattoos are a look that make one look common and low class.
tell him it will make you independant
answer my q please

I don’t think u can get a tattoo until youre 18, no matter whether you have his permission or not.
omg, DO NOT get that!! you’re too young. you have to be 18 to 21. Also, you never know if the artist uses clean needles. If they use dirty needles, it could leave a bad scar. Some people hate their tattoos so much (the cross on your wrist, you might cover it up with a wristband later on) that they seriously want to cover it up. I remember a sub teacher that taught my class had a HUGE tattoo on her back (she always wore a tank) and a day later, wore a sweater in summer weather. I heard the parents complained because she had one. So, if you want your career to be important, don’t get a tattoo. It ruins your reputation. If you really want one, read about it and know the facts. or get one on your foot. =)
There’s a reason the age is 18.
You are 16. You are contemplating your first tattoo.
I was 19 when I got my second, six months after I had gotten my first. I knew the process, and I still made a mistake, getting a pretty crappy tattoo. I solved the problem by paying a lot more and making sure I went to very good shops. Very good shops tend not to like you to be underage.
There are things you will regret a few years later. A lower-back tattoo you found on the internet is one of them. I speak as someone with a lower-back tattoo. I drew mine, and it was the 5th, not the 1st, that I got.
They are plainly visible unless you are in the habit of wearing smocks or dresses, every single day.
I don’t make the tattoo-interpretation rules, but there is a distinct language which a tattoo speaks to the rest of the community who can see it. the language generally communicated by a lower back tattoo you found on the internet is "look at me, I’m trying to appear sexy." This is probably not what you want to communicate. If it IS what you want to communicate, at least wait until you’re above the age of consent.
well u could try telling him that ur sure this is what u want, u accept the commitment of getting it and u wont change ur mind within 2 years, so ur going to get it anyway. but if this wont work keep in mind its only 2 years. it seems so far away but itll fly by! ppl’s high school years really do go by quickly.
Now that you have read all the negative anti tattoo wankers answers, that is a very nice looking tattoo. There are some really ugly lower back tattoos around but that is really sexy, and not "tramp" like all those idiots said. They are just miserable wimps who have never had the intestinal fortitude to go and actually get inked themselves. Go tell your dad that I reckon it looks very attractive, like a piece of jewelery on your skin and you should have it. I don’t like your chances at the tattoo shop, they might not tattoo under 18’s though.
If not, wait till you’re 18 and get it done, it is really beautiful, you have good aste.
I’m 16 too and I recently got one last year. First of all, what I did was just bug them over the years and told them of all the ‘body art’ I wanted. If you call it body art, (bonus points if you’re a creative person) and proved yourself sincere to the symbology and or what it means to you (the tattoo I mean) to your father, and politely asked him to consider it, there’s a higher possibility. I myself got a fleur-de-lis because it’s 1.) symbolic of Gabriel, the arch-angel, 2.) my ancestry is of part-French, which is my favourite bloodline, and 3.) fleur-de-lis means something like flower of lily (literally) and my real name is Jasmine, which is an egyptian water lily, oh and lastly my mom’s mom name was Lillian as was my mom’s adopted mom name was Lillian too. Maybe if you just say something like, Dad I’m finally growing up and becoming my own person now and the butterfly is SYMBOLIC of how I’m becoming a social butterfly. Don’t only say that… think of something else. Or say something about how much Christ MEANS to you. But if you can’t think of something good enough like on what it would mean, you probably won’t get it. It’s still worth a try though. P.S. it would be a good thing to mention that you know that they are for life. As long as it means something to you then I’m sure you’ll sound like you not only want it, but need it.
dont go to a crap shop either. sure they may be cheaper and have less booked appt.s but still you should research the shop, make sure they have their health certifications or whatever(they normally have it on the ad). I went to a good shop it was a little pricey but it’s totally worth it if they have clean needles. that’s if you’re lucky
Geeeez I’m gonna sound old saying this, but listen to your father. You are 16 now and I guarantee what is important to you know may not be when you are older. Tattoos should not be something you get because you are trying to follow a trend. If you think about trends….they go away and change. An example being clothes…..a certain style of clothing may be "all the rage" now, but wait 5 yrs and that "rage" will be completely different. The problem is, if you follow a fashion "rage", you can stop wearing the clothes that went out of style. A tattoo is permanent and only removable by laser.
Wait till you have a bit more "life experience". You will develop things that are very important to you and then maybe you will come up with a tattoo design to express that.
If you CAN convince your dad you need a new dad.
Just pick out your tattoo and then get temporary ones made of it, continue to be open minded in your search for the right one for you and then when you turn 18 you will be more sure that you want it on you for life. You will be glad when you are 18 that you didn’t get the tramp stamp at 16 and if your design doesn’t change by then you will love it even more because you had to wait for it
A lot of shops will NOT tattoo a minor even with a parent present. I’d wait the two years and if you still want the tattoo then you know it is meant to be.
Right now it seems to be a fad for girls to go and get these little tattoos that they are seriously going to end up regretting. You want to get a tattoo because it’s something you really really want not just because like OMG it’s so cool to do now.
i just convinced my parents to let me get one once i turn 16 which is in 1 month, just start out showing him how responsible you are by doing good in school, work, extra activities, or whatever you do. then just gradually ask once in awhile. tell him that it helps you show your creative side by having a tattoo and that it won’t be anything to big, or immature. thats what i did and it worked for me. hope that helps.
well honey..
if you REALLY want it. ink it! but dont let your daddy know until you are 18.
my advice: the tat is trash. find another cool pict. be creative – create your own. (i dont say that butterfly is trash)
since i was 15 i really wanted to ink fairy on my lower back. but thankfully, my tattoo artist won’t did it until i am 18. and now (20) im happy that i dont have that shiit on my body. cause i figure to ink the fairy on my ankle (not done =( ).
honey.. just be patient. think of what you really want. okay..
