How much does a tattoo artist on Miami Ink or LA Ink make per tattoo?

What do they make for a portrait? Or for a shoulder tattoo?
Are they the "cream of the crop" of tattooist, or just happen to have gotten lucky with a tv show?

I’ve heard Kat Von D charged $500 an hour. You’re looking at $2000-$3000 for one of her tattoos. As for Ami and that bunch, you’re pretty much paying top dollar for average work. If you look around your city, I’m sure you’ll find artists who produce the same quality work for the fraction of the cost. To give you an idea, most reputable shops charge $125/hour for large scale custom pieces.
Too much.
i heard the minimum price is $200. and theyre good. some of the worlds best.thats WHY theyre on a TV show and thats why they charge so much. u get what you pay for.
Def. not cream of the crop. Just pretty enough to be on TV, knew the right people, and got lucky. That Kat chick gets on my last nerve. And there are numerous websites claiming they got Hep from her shop.
just becuase miami ink is on T.V doesnt make them better than a shop thats not on T.V.
Luis Batos or pride tattoo gallery does celebrity tattoo’s and he isnt on T.V.
he has tattoo’d
