I draw well, and my friend recommended me to a tattoo shop where they are looking for a tattoo artist (I hope I’m using the correct term- I mean the person who designs the tattoos and draws them, not the one who actually tattoos you).
What are this job’s requirements, artistically and practically? Do you need to improvise on the spot, or can you design it over a period of time?

I just got my tattoo today, and I have a planned trip to an amusement park on Saturday. I know it’s unsafe to put sunblock on an unhealed tattoo, and I also know that sun rays can go through clothing. So how can I protect it, if I absolutely need to stay out in the sun?

I’m planning on getting a tattoo there, but I’d like to know what the pain level is. And don’t give me any "Don’t get a tattoo cause when your 80 years old you’ll die hating yourself" I have a high pain tolerance, and telling me the amount of pain will not stop me from getting the tattoo. I’m just curious.

A friend of mine is pretty adamant on getting a tattoo of a snake wrapping around her body from her foot to her lower back. After the snake ends, a phoenix coming out of the snake covers the rest of her back. This is a pretty big tattoo. How much would such a tattoo cost and how long would it take? How painful would you say it would be?

I have a great idea for a tattoo that i really want to get, but the only problem is i CAN’T draw. So my question is is there any websites that i can find a tattoo artist to design a tattoo just for me online without going to a tattoo pallor? The reason why i don’t want to go to a tattoo pallor is because i would like to walk in with the picture of i want on my body. Thank you all in advance.

I’m supposed to be getting a chest piece done at a convention next month. The artist wants me to enter in tattoo of the day. What all goes on with these tattoo contests? How do you enter? Do you win anything? Any other information regarding tattoo contests/conventions is welcome.

I’ve heard about several products that are meant for application directly to the tattoo without stoping the surrounding skin from tanning..
But I don’t know how effective these are – could someone givem e some advice on how to protect a tattoo but still tan?

I’m planning on getting a tattoo on my side right around the hip bone area. (a little below the belt line) Anyways, I don’t want to get ink all over my clothes, nor can I walk around without pants on seeing as I still live with my anti-tattoo parents who will conveniently not know about my tattoo. My question is how long will I be able to keep it covered during the day and night to protect the tattoo and my clothes. Thanks!!!

I have a shoulder tattoo of a sci-fi looking girl wearing a gas mask. I need some ideas of what would look good with that, for an entire back piece.
Pictures would be wonderful, but ideas are just as good.

I want a tattoo to represent the night that I took X and almost died from it, so I will always have a reminder that I will never ever again try drugs. The incident happened on October 31st, at a rave called Freaknight. I also want the tattoo to be small. Any ideas?

I have been through all my ideas of every aspect I would like to take part in in my life. I have always been fascinated with tattoos and piercings. How would I go about being a tattoo artist/piercer? (What would you call one who pierces? =P)
Does it include college? Classes? What must I do?

After giving it much thought I have decided that I want a very detailed tattoo on my arm. However I do not have any experience with tattoos and do not know if any able tattoo artist would be suitable for this or if I have to search for a specific artist.
If you put "quasi-crystal pattern" into google images you can get an idea of the sort of pattern I want.
Is this too unrealistic?
I would also appreciate if anyone could recommend a good tattoo artist in England.
I would be prepared to pay the money a good tattoo takes and also to travel over a distance to find a good artist.
Here’s a link to a more specific picture of what I would like:

I have had my tattoo for a week, and it is doing beautifully! I have diligently followed the aftercare instructions my artist provided. My question is pertaining the use of sunscreen. The tattoo has peeled and is now sort of grainy/dry, but very clean, to look at. I have NO plans to be in the sun directly with it (I do not lay out or roam the beach, etc.), but I would like to know if sunscreen over the tattoo is appropriate yet for times when I may *indirectly* be exposed to the sun. These might include gardening, being in the yard, playing with dogs, going for a walk, etc. The tattoo is on my inner wrist, so it’s not "showing" all the time.
At this point, would a sunscreen be appropriate, or an irritant?
I purchased a Neutrogena SPF 30 stick of sunscreen that looks like a smaller version of a deodorant stick
, and I’m not sure if the ingredients would harm or fade, or irritate my freshly inked tattoo. Could anyone with experience advise on this, please? Thanks so much!

I want to know if tattoo artists use tap water or distilled water to put in their rinse cup (the one in which they rinse their tattoo machine during a tattoo). Anyone know?

I got a black tattoo on my wrist about one week ago, this is my third tattoo, and I hate this one. How long do I have to wait to have it removed.? Has anyone undergone laser tattoo removal to know if it really works?

I was thinking about getting a tattoo in memory of my grandmother, who passed away few yrs ago. She was an evangelist, so I want something relevant to anything spiritual and tasteful. I want it on my left shoulder, so is that area more or less painful? Any suggestions of what I can get? This is my first tattoo ever!

I started lifting about a year and a half ago (the september after I graduated high school) and I gained over 60lbs of muscle. I have stretch marks all over and keep getting more. I want a tattoo, but how can I if my skin will grow stretch marks? Am I limited to only small tattoos?

I’m a tattoo artist and i’ve used a few types of cameras already and i’m not satisfied with the picture quality of them. All the pictures i take are very up close i’d say about 2" to 24" depending on where the tattoo is placed and what the tattoo is. So if anybody could help me out with this it would be great.

I’m just starting tattooing and would like to buy all my equipments separately rather than from a tattooing kit. Something that really concerns me is how well a tattoo machine can cut. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good brand that’s durable/powerful/not too expensive(around 0 price range). Also any recommendations/advice on the model type as well as disposable tubes and needles. I’ll mostly be doing oriental/black and grey tats.

I plan to get a tattoo but my dad don’t approve of it and won’t let me get one. I am 22 and capable of making this decision on my own and it’s not going to be some stupid tattoo. I know that I’m going to have this tattoo for life so I have to make what I want as a tattoo that I won’t regret. I really need to hide it when I get it.

I am looking into getting a tattoo in memory of my grandparents who were killed. The tattoo that i am looking at has a cross. I also am planning on entering the air force with hopes of becoming a fighter pilot. In the air force’s tattoo policy it says that tattoos that display religious discrimination are prohibited. I would like to know if a cross is considered to be a symbol of religious discrimination. Is it?
